Frequently Asked Questions
❓ What age and ability does my child need to be?
Our main entry point is our Junior Squad. We generally welcome swimmers who have completed Stage 6 or 7 of the Learn to Swim programme or can comfortably swim about 25-50 metres. The best way to know for sure is to come for a free trial—our coaches will make sure they are placed in the perfect group for their ability.
❓ What happens at a free trial session?
The trial is very relaxed and informal! It's a chance for your swimmer to join in a regular training session, meet the coaches, and make some new friends. The coach will assess their current ability to see which squad would be the best fit. Our main goal is to make sure your child feels comfortable, has fun, and is excited to come back.
❓ How often do swimmers have to compete?
There's no pressure! While we are a competitive club, we encourage swimmers to compete only when they feel ready and excited to do so. For our younger swimmers, the focus is on fun team galas. We also have a Fitness Squad for those who simply want to train and enjoy the sport without the pressure of regular competition.
❓ What kit do we need to get started?
To begin with, all your swimmer needs is a standard swimming costume or jammers, a pair of well-fitting goggles, and a swimming hat. If you decide to join the club after your trial, we'll give you all the information you need about our official club kit.
